September 11th is the day that Ethiopia celebrates New Year's Day. As of today, the people of Ethiopia entered the year 2002!
YES, I SAID THAT RIGHT. IT IS 2002 IN ETHIOPIA NOW!
hmmmm......No wonder no one knows what date Ellie was born! We aren't even in the same year as they are!
Go celebrate in honor of Ethiopia!

So Ellie's really like, 10??? HA HA
Lydia: Yesterday, when she was singing, laughing those cute little fake laughs, and saying her prayers, you could almost believe she is 10!!! ha! And, she even thinks she can win those little mommy/daughter battles. Wait 'til she's a teenager!!!!
Now that's funny.
never heard such a thing as this...wow...so what day / month is Ellie born in? Will be strange to teach her these things later on, I assume. Lol...you know she has ''settled'' when she starts telling you what she will do!! wish i could be a fly at times!!
I guess that she was born in 2000, in Ethiopia years. something like that. We have no idea about the actual day. This is one reason that paperwork takes so long. They have to translate not only the language, but the time. It gets very confusing in the court system. that's probably why we were given the wrong court date initially.. just a mix up in the dates. interesting, huh? They actually have 13 months in their calendar, but it's not always at the same time. It's based on the moon phases I think.
Those Prosser kids have wierd birthdays ---Bryan is a Leap Year baby born on Leap Day and now Ellie with an Ethiopian Year birthday!!! This is so confusing to an "old" Nana!!!!
yes... we like to keep people thinking around here! HA~!
I am so excited to have (refound) your blog. We are just contracting with Celebrate Children and I was trying to find some info on Woliso, Ethiopia and the Garage language...your site came up with a match!
I am so excited about reading about your journey.
God bless you
